Let's start a webshop! www.dutchpeppersshop.nl

The lates design: the lap top bag.
It's not so hard to start your own bussiness; it only takes time and you must not be afraid to adjust your ideas. I have this company Dutch Peppers for 15 years now (mmm that's long, and still not rich...). I use to be a interior designer after the art school (Hogeschool voor de Beeldende Kunsten) in Amsterdam but 2 years ago I finished the Fashion Academy (Artemis) in Rotterdam and since then I have been focussing on fashion. I bought an old sewing machine for leather from an Iranian guy who lived on the 10th stock of a flat without an elevator and started designing. After a lot of trials and ugly designs I think I am on track now. My line consists of fun bags, art, iPhone and iPad bags, etuis and table cloths. All leather and handmade by the designer (me). Last week I have talked with the Social Workplace (Sociale Werkplaats) were people with handicaps are making everything you can imaging. They have sewing-, iron-, and wood departments were they manufacture chairs, garbage bags, all kinds of childrens cloth et cetera. And also a leather department!!! As we speak they are cutting and sewing samples of my bussiness line (stuff that girls can take to work like bags for iPad, iPhone, lap top, writing stuff) so I will keep you posted..

leather table cloth: DINER IS READYYY!!

Three coloured table cloth. my sons (Niek 7/ Roemer 9/ Jippe 11 years old) are spilling all the time: limonade, glue, spit. I can clean it alle the time by using Jif and other agressive cleaning stuff. No problem, the leather still looks good. Niek says you never see a cow with dirty spots so why should a leather table cloth get dirty?

wood caught by leather

This wood is found in the garden of my atelier in The Hague. When I made this piece of art hundreds of small animals tried to escape from the wood, running around on the floor. They are happy not to be outyside; it's freezing in Holland...

flower bag; let's go out!

first blog day

Today is my first blog day. I am inspired by Guusje's Appeltaart who told me that blogs are fun (but a lot of work!). I will tell you about my angry inspiration to make everything in leather what comes into my mind in my atelier in the center of The Hague. Maybe my 3 sons will be in my blogs (and hopelfully not my little fights with my husband..). Today I have signed up for Artist in the Statenkwartier (a artist club in the neighbourhood I live in) to talk about a exhibition in March were hundreds of people will visit you house to look at you art (and take a look in you house like a voyeur). Keep you posted!
